Supervision.

Clinical supervision differs from line management supervision and is a requirement for all counsellors and therapists.

Supervision for Therapists

The aim of the process is for the supervisor to support the supervisee to reflect on their practice and to use the space to become a more effective practitioner, in turn this supports the work with the client.

The supervisors on the Jigsaw team are trained in creative supervision and are highly experienced therapists who can provide support and advice on issues that may arise during the process of the clinical work. They can support with ideas and strategies but they will also help the therapist to understand the therapeutic relationships, navigate their way through challenges and guide through ethical decision making.

Supervision in Schools

Following lots of requests from staff in the Education sector for support it became apparent that creative supervision usually offered to those in the therapeutic and medical fields could be adapted to fit very naturally in Education. Generally, but in particular in the last 18 months the expectations and challenges placed on school staff has increased to sometimes overwhelming levels

The main aim and focus of the service is to offer a confidential space where participants feel able to offload and reflect upon their workload and, to be supported in considering how their own wider experiences might be affecting their responses and reactions and in turn their energy levels and ability to self-care.

It works on the premise that we often forget to support ourselves to care for others first. On an aircraft we are told to put our own oxygen mask on before supporting others and this is key to the purpose of supervision.

All discussions are confidential but will adhere to the safeguarding protocols and procedures in the school setting. The sessions are open and relaxed but aim to leave those that attend feeling refocused and less burdened.
