How we provide support

We have found that integrating our service into schools is the most effective way of providing support.

The way this will look would be individual for each school. Key to the work is a consistent and confidential space to offer the sessions in that would be the same each week. We can work out the logistics together.

Our therapists can come into your school to deliver therapy to one child, but we can also discuss a package of work. This package can evolve to include drop-in sessions, staff and parent support, supervision and training packages to name but a few. We are happy to deliver training to all professionals on themes such as developmental trauma and attachment theory but we can develop a training package to meet your own needs and we’re happy to discuss this.

Training.

Each of the training opportunities offered through the Jigsaw Academy are suitable for all professionals. We are also able to tailor a bespoke training for your own organisations needs. These can be delivered as twilight sessions or inset days. Zoom or Team sessions are also an option.

Professional Support and Supervision.

The main aim and focus of the service is to offer a confidential space where participants feel able to offload and reflect upon their workload and, to be supported in considering how their own wider experiences might be affecting their responses and reactions and in turn their energy levels and ability to self-care.

This service is available to all members of the school community including the Senior Leaders, Designated Safeguarding Leads, Teachers. and Support. Staff.

It is also a valuable support service for Social Workers and Foster Carer’s who will also benefit from having somewhere to offload and explore responses and reactions in a non-judgmental space.

Parent and Carer Coaching Programme

"I have only positive thoughts after finishing this course. I was genuinely looking forward to every weekly session for a friendly chat and felt my confidence improving. I felt understood and supported. It didn’t feel like coach and parent talks at all. It felt like having a cup of tea and chatting to two old, non-judgmental friends with Kate and Mic during our 6-week sessions."

“I’ve taken something from every module. It has boosted my confidence."

"The Chemistry of Parenting" course provides a unique, online coaching experience for parents and carers, whatever the age and make up of their family. Over an informal "Virtual cuppa", the course offers participants a safe, non-judgmental space to discuss and explore their parenting style, whilst building on their existing skills. Each week focuses on enhancing a new core skill including positive verbal and non-verbal communication, self-regulation techniques, the use of boundaries, and strategies for self care.

Kate and Mic, 2 highly experienced child and adolescent therapists and family coaches, will work with the parent or carer across  6, individual 1 hour sessions, tailoring the course content to the family's needs. Each week, on zoom from the comfort of their own home, this personalised and interactive course is supported by an accompanying workbook and resource pack full of strategies and tips. The workbook also acts as a handy support tool for further reference and reflection on completion. Once the six modules have been finished, Kate and Mic offer "Check in" sessions to support each participant as they work on implementing their new skills within their family unit. These "Check ins" provide an opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns they may have. Each participant is also awarded a final certificate of completion.

We also offer a supplementary course available for extended family members or partners of the participant, in a condensed 3 core module version. Completion of this 3 module format with “Check ins” ensures a united parenting approach can be applied within the family by all carers, providing a consistent and supportive parenting model.
We look forward to working with you to best support your families.
