Filial Play Coaching

Means directly involving the parent/carer of the child to support attachments.

Filial Play and Coaching is a way of working that uses play to support attachments between a child and their parents or carers. This way of working can be used to support children from 18 months to adolescence. It supports emotional and mental development which may have become impaired. It can be highly effective in helping to improve parent/ child relationships.

Filial play involves the parent / carer being directly involved in the process supported by one of the Jigsaw trained coaches, who will support the parent to gain confidence in playing in a non-directive way with their child at home. It also works on the premise that it is time and not expensive toys and equipment that are needed
